Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

We share your data with no other party.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

1. c) Sensitive personal data

When you send us your personal sensitive data such as medical forms and passport forms, we have to print a copy in order to take with us on our expedition for in case of emergencies, this is part of being BS8848 compliant with overseas expeditions. These are kept in a lockable case and after each course/expedition all paperwork is destroyed by shredding then burnt within two weeks of our arrival in the UK.

All of the personal data we process is processed by us in the UK.

Electronic data and databases are stored on secure computer systems and we control who has access to information (using both physical and electronic means).

We will only use and store information for as long as it required for the purposes it was collected for. We continually review what information we hold, and delete what is no longer required.

1. E) E-commerce gateway

Our e-commerce provider is paypal.

Paypal nor Intrepid Expeditions keep credit card details on their servers. All purchases are encrypted using the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) standard, so your communication between our website and our payment gateway are secure. We think it’s best that your details are your own and should stay that way.

Intrepid Expeditions wants to exceed your expectation in everything we do. However, we know that there may be times when we do not meet our own high standards. When this happens, we want to hear about it, in order to deal with the situation as quickly as possible and put measures in place to stop it happening again.

We take complaints very seriously and we treat them as an opportunity to develop our approach. This is why we are always very grateful to hear from people who are willing to take the time to help us improve.
