Who are Snow and Paddles?

Nigel Startin and his team from Snow and Paddles has been running survival courses since 2000 and over the years our expert knowledge has been passed on to a wide variety of people. With just a few Indigenous tribes in the world today who still live by primitive means, the basic skills that were crucial to our ancestors have been all but left in the past. Unfortunately we are ever more reliant on the easy convenience of modern technology therefore separating ourselves from those basic ancestral skills to survive.

In recent years however learning the art of survival has been re-ignited. So whether you are planning a major expedition or a couple of day’s walking, or even just curious about traditional survival skills then come and join us for a rewarding and fun experience. You will learn a great amount about the subject and maybe learn something about yourself as well. Not only that but you will take away with you your newly acquired survival skills safe in the knowledge that you are well prepared.

  1. Lorna Rivett –

I have just returned from a 5 night survival course. Challenging, informative, great learning experience and fun! As a 50year old female wondering if I could ever be a little bit “Bear Grylls” -if I can do it, anyone can if they want to learn. With the instruction of the team and along with other team mates (who you don’t know until you arrive), had a cracking time and now feel confidant that I could deal with most unexpected survival situations. Can’t wait to book another course. Thankyou Intrepid Team. It was fab!

  2. Stephen Booth –

My 2nd Adventure with Nigel and his team has come to an end and already I’m looking at booking another trip, the river spey descent was Amazing in every way.
    Highly recommended

  3. Tracey Hyde –

Enjoyed it so much, I came back for more.
Nigel and team bring excellent knowledge and experience.
It is back to nature, just bring what’s on the kit list and you will be fine.
    Enjoy 🙂
